Pendle Education Trust

Pendle Education Trust is a family of academies in East Lancashire educating over 2350 children. The Trust is sponsored by Nelson and Colne College, an Outstanding Further Education college in Pendle.

Colne Primet Academy

This school is a secondary education provider located in Colne. The school has experienced transformational change across all areas. The school received a Good judgement in its 2018 Ofsted inspection. It was named Secondary School of the Year in the 2021 East Lancashire Education Awards.

Pendle Primary Academy

This primary school is located in Brierfield and has just over 400 children. It is a popular and vibrant school that has undergone a rapid change and improvement programme since Julie Burnside, Executive Principal, arrived in June 2013. Under the leadership of Julie and Academy Principal, Simon Thompson, the children’s progress improved significantly and is now broadly aligned with national benchmarks from a position well below only a year previously. Progress has continued to be outstanding and the Academy was named one of the top 50 performing or improving schools in England in 2015. It also won a Shine a Light Award for its speech and language provision.

Castercliff Primary Academy

Castercliff Primary Academy joined the Trust in September 2015. With 315 pupils, the Academy is located in Nelson and is well established, offering a broad, enriched curriculum for primary education. Castercliff Primary Academy has strong links with local nurseries to offer a smooth transition to the Academy. There is a strong focus on reading, writing and maths, as well as enhancing children’s learning through broad ‘enrichment experiences’ with trips and visits. Castercliff Primary Academy was recently named in the top 2% of schools in the country for progression between Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

West Craven High School

West Craven High School joined the Trust in September 2016. As a small and vibrant school, it specialises in giving students the individual attention that larger establishments can find difficult.  Every student at West Craven is an individual, prized for their individual skills, and it is a priority for the school to help each student achieve their personal goals. 100% of students last year gained a place at a sixth form, sixth form school or employment, significantly better than the national average.

Casterton Primary Academy

Casterton Primary Academy is the most recent addition to the Pendle Education Trust family. The Academy is committed to providing a welcoming, community atmosphere in which it can nurture the achievements of every child. Academic learning and aspiration are highly valued as well as enabling all of its children to grow in confidence, develop a sense of responsibility and achieve their personal goals.
